There are those that are born with the desire to be behind a desk, and then there are those that are meant to be on the water. Barry Lipoff, Owner and President of Crown International Yacht Sales, is the latter. He thrives behind the helm of a sport cruiser or motor yacht, excels in navigating the pristine gulf waters, and genuinely loves boating.Barry is an expert. With more than 45 years of captaining his 17 personal vessels in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, South Carolina,Florida and its keys, Barry is the real deal. He has been a yacht broker for over 17 years, bringing his joy for all things boating to each and every client he meets. There is gusto in everything Barry does, which was noticeable even at an early age. As a young man in college studying Business Law and Marketing, Barry captained yachts for private owners in Atlantic City, NJ. Upon graduation, he began a long and established career in the food industry in Philadelphia and New Jersey as a buyer and seller. He owned and operated food manufacturing distribution businesses. During that time, he was heavily involved as a Board Member and acted as the negotiator for a $20 million pension fund for a major tri-state teamsters and food union.
While the food business was his world, the joy of boating became more than just a recreational interest. In 1996, Barry left the northeast and embarked on a new career, one that allowed him to wear deck shoes daily. He started selling new and used yachts in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Barry loved his new line of work, but saw more opportunities were available to him in Florida. In 1998, he and his family moved to Sarasota, Florida, and furthered the expansion of his career in the yachting industry. In 2002, Barry, along with his wife, Beryl, founded and opened Dolphin International Yacht Sales, Inc., venturing into the international market, selling boats and yachts all over the world. He sold the operation in 2004, and remained as the acting President until September of 2009. In October of 2009, he and Beryl proudly opened Crown International Yacht Sales. Barry’s commitment to his industry and community can be seen in his contribution to local and national organizations. He is a member of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association, Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and the Bird Key Yacht Club. He is a former President of the Gulf Gate East Home Owners Association, and former member of the Sarasota Yacht Club. Barry looks to get more involved in local philanthropies and not-for-profit organizations.
